Ra (or Re) was the supreme sun god in ancient Egyptian mythology, regarded as the creator of all life, king of the gods, and patron of heaven, kingship, and light. Representing the sun itself, he was believed to travel across the sky in a solar barge during the day and traverse the underworld at night.
